Frequently asked questions
How is NSSF calculated? +
Employee NSSF is 6% of pensionable pay, split into Tier I (first Ksh 8,000) and Tier II (up to the Upper Earnings Limit of Ksh 72,000). The current maximum employee contribution is Ksh 4,320 per month. Limits are set by circular and can change.
How is SHIF calculated? +
SHIF is 2.75% of gross pay, with a statutory minimum of Ksh 300 per month. Uncheck the SHIF box if you need a breakdown without it.
How is the Housing Levy calculated? +
The employee Affordable Housing Levy is 1.5% of gross pay, with no cap in this calculator. The employer typically matches 1.5% as well — shown as information, not taken from your net here.
Does this include PAYE? +
